WCPN: Bob Latta sworn in by Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Suggested host intro: It’s official . . . Bob Latta is now a US Congressman. He was sworn in today by the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. Matt Laslo has this report from Washington.
NARR: Latta won the fifth district seat on Tuesday. It opened up when Congressman Paul Gilmore died. Latta’s father spent 30 years representing the district before Gilmore. Latta says he spent a lot of time in the Capitol as a child, but it’s now taking on new meaning.
“When we were coming in this morning and looking up and see that Capitol Dome, which I have seen my entire life, from an early age, but when its all the sudden that I’m gonna be responsible for what’s going on in there – it’s a completely different experience.”
Latta was one of two Republicans sworn in. Both of them took their first votes today . . . on a motion to allow debate on spending.
